Exotic Origins Coffee Lekempti Am Harrar

One of life's most surprising pleasures is to taste the difference between an excellent coffee and an extraordinary one. As with fine wine, the profound complexity of coffee involves over a thousand flavor constituents that define its aroma, character and finish. Ethiopia is said to be the birthplace of coffee. As legend has it, a shepherd named Kaldi first discovered coffee and used it as a drink. With this rich heritage, it's not surprising this region produces some of the finest, most exceptional coffees globally. On a recent expedition in search of Ethiopia's finest, we visited Lekempti, a rural area located within the region of Wollega, about 6 hours west of Addis Ababa by car. The Exotic Origins team singled out this small micro-lot of indigenous Ethiopian Longberry. This coffee was grown at an elevation between 4,900 and 5,900 feet and is known for its pleasant acidity and a healthy body characteristic of this varietal. The coffee was produced organically on a shade grown plot and dried using a natural sundried process to further enhance its wonderful exotic flavor. Our small plot farmers use the traditional method of intercropping several agricultural products under the shade of the forest canopy providing for sustainability of their families and this exceptional exotic coffee. Lekempti Am Harrar provides an intellectual taste profile that is sure to please the most discerning coffee palate.
